MTI in Yeosu, Korea

Enroute to Niger, I am teaching at MTI (Missionary Training Institute) in South Korea. After 6-hrs of bus ride, I finally arrived in Yeosu, a southern coastal city of Korea. I will be here until the end of July before flying out to Niger on Aug 3rd.

Some students here are returned missionaries needing more English, and some are missionary candidates preparing for their first launch -- some pastors, mission agency staff, young college students, etc. Teachers are mostly retired missionaries from the English speaking countries like the USA, UK, Australia. Teachers are all volunteers. Students and the teachers live in the same building promoting English speaking, which is the reason most of the students flock to this place. Teacher’s schedule is packed from 7am to 9:30pm, and sometimes days go by not knowing how the weather is outside (both my classroom and my bedroom do not have a window facing outside). But it is truly a gratifying experience watching the students deepen their personal relationships with the Lord, and grow in their love for each other and the people they have never met in the mission field all the while improving their English!
